本展の開幕にあわせ、藤本壮介の建築思想とその実践を多角的に捉えるシンポジウムを開催します。セッション 1 では、建築家の妹島和世氏と塚本由晴氏を登壇者に迎え、本展の展示内容を議論の起点に、藤本のこれまでの取り組みを振り返りながら、現代における建築の意義や今後の可能性を探ります。セッション 2 では、田中仁氏、宮田裕章氏を登壇者に迎え、白井屋ホテル（群馬）や、コー・イノベーション大学（仮称、岐阜）といった、両氏が深く関わるプロジェクトを手がかりに、建築と地方社会との関係、街づくりの未来について議論を深めます。

Symposium: The potential of architecture—taking Sou Fujimoto’s architecture as the departure point

In conjunction with the start of the exhibition, MAM will hold a symposium that focuses on Sou Fujimoto’s architectural philosophy and practice from various perspectives. In Session 1, architects Kazuyo Sejima and Yoshiharu Tsukamoto will explore the present-day significance of architecture and its future potential in the light of Fujimoto’s work, using the contents of the exhibition as a departure point for discussion. In Session 2, Tanaka Hitoshi and Miyata Hiroaki will discuss the relationship between architecture and local communities, and the future of community development as exemplified by projects in which they are deeply involved, such as the Shiroiya Hotel (Gunma) and Co-Innovation University (Gifu).
