このたび、日本で初めて、Scrum Inc.とThe Cynefin Companyの共催による2日間のマスタークラスを開催します。世界各地で10年以上の経験を積んだ講師を迎え、実践的かつ深い学びの機会をご提供します。

1日目午前 - クネヴィン理論と複雑な状況判断

はじめに、システム、複雑性、クネヴィン理論の枠組みについて理解し、実践のための基礎を築きます。次に、複雑な領域について深く掘り下げ、業務の進め方やそれを支えるツールや手法を探求します。グループワークを通じて、皆さまの業務に適用できる手法を体験します。

• 分析、戦略、方向性に対する異なるアプローチである帰納法、演繹法、帰納法について考える

• 3種類のシステムを探求し、クネヴィン・フレームワークが各領域で戦略的に行動する指針となることを理解する

• 複雑性への取り組み：制約、コンストラクター、安全な失敗探査などの方法を実践する

• クネヴィン・ダイナミクスと変化：複雑な状態と秩序ある状態、両者のシステムの間を効果的に移動する

1日目午後 - SenseMaker®、Estuarine Mapping、Hexi

コンサルタントやリーダー、個人が複雑な課題に適用できる一連のツールと手法を実践的に学びます。戦略、調査、変化、リーダーシップに役立つ代替案を提供します。初日を終える頃には、戦略、方向性、変革に対する新鮮なアプローチを習得し、シンプルで応用可能な手法を習得するとともに、より高度なツールやより長期的な開発オプションについての認識も深めることになります。

• ツールと手法のエコシステムを探求するための基礎として、演繹的作業（ナラティブやイノベーションを含む）の理論と実践を理解する

• 複雑な課題に取り組むための共通言語と、効果的な行動を支える意味理解を向上させるシンプルな手法のセットを学ぶ

• 複雑な選択肢：複雑な環境において、戦略、変化、評価基準や測定、パフォーマンス管理などをどのように行うか？を考える

• 複雑なシステムをマッピングするアプローチとして、また、システム的な変化を推進するプロセスとして、エスターナル・マッピングを発見する

• また、SenseMaker®の各種ツールやアプリケーションについても触れ、これらのアプローチをサポートします。また、最新のサービスであるComic AgileやGaping Void Culture QuickSensesなどの手法についても紹介します

• 複雑な手法のワークショップをサポートするCynefin Co HEXIファシリテーションキットを使用します

2日目 – Cynefin & AGILE ディープダイブ

フレームワークと基本的なCynefin/複雑性メソッドを探究した後、アジャイルプラクティスの世界に焦点を移し、アジャイル変革への複雑性対応アプローチ、およびそれをサポートするアジャイル特有のツール、メソッド、プロセスを探究します。2日間を終えると、アジャイルまたは革新的な製品およびサービス開発における可能性を再認識し、すぐに適用できる具体的なツールや手法に支えられ、その可能性を実感します。

Jules Yim （ジュールズ・イム／嚴芊文）

ジュールズは2009年にシンガポールの政府プロジェクトの提供に参加するためにクネヴィン社に入社しました。それ以来、彼女はアジア太平洋、ヨーロッパ、南北アメリカ、アフリカの公共、民間、第三セクターのクライアントと仕事をしてきました。

英語学と英文学の2つの専攻を修了し、クライアントのプロジェクトにナラティブリサーチを適用する上で非常に有益となりました。その他の関心分野には、計算言語学、ガバナンスの代替形態、都市計画、未来予測、気候変動、ナラティブ、そして次世紀におけるグローバルサウスの役割などがあります。

Donna Glanvill (ドナ・グランビル）

ドナは現在、クネヴィン・カンパニーの学習および研修部門を率いており、学習、製品開発、ファシリテーション、コンサルティングなど幅広い経験を生かし、同社の研修、学習、能力開発の提供拡大に貢献しています。 メンターによる指導や実践コミュニティの支援を受けながら、ブレンディッドラーニングデザインの設計とテクノロジーを活用し、多様な受講者に対して情報や学習へのアクセスを拡大することに重点的に取り組んでいます。

Dave Snowden

Whether navigating geopolitical tensions, technological disruption, or organizational transformation, sensemaking empowers us to respond with agility and turn uncertainty into sustainable impact.

For the first time in Japan, Scrum Inc. and The Cynefin Company will co-host a 2-day masterclass. We’ll welcome internationally experienced trainers with over a decade of practice to deliver a hands-on, deeply engaging learning experience.

Day 1 Morning – Cynefin Theory & Navigating Complexity

We’ll begin with an exploration of systems thinking, complexity theory, and the Cynefin framework—laying the foundation for practical application. Then we’ll take a deeper dive into the domain of complexity, examining how we can navigate it with tools, techniques, and group activities to help participants apply what they learn to real-world challenges.

Participants will:

• Understand the distinctions between inductive, deductive, and abductive approaches to analysis, strategy, and decision-making

• Explore three types of systems and how the Cynefin framework offers strategic guidance within each

• Engage with complexity through methods such as constraints, constructors, and safe-to-fail probes

• Work with Cynefin dynamics to shift effectively between complex and ordered states

Day 1 Afternoon – SenseMaker®, Estuarine Mapping, and Hexi

In the afternoon, we’ll explore practical tools and methods for consultants, leaders, and individuals to address complex challenges. These approaches provide alternatives for strategy development, research, transformation, and leadership.

Participants will:

• Learn the theory and practice behind abductive approaches (including narrative and innovation) as a foundation for exploring a diverse ecosystem of tools and methods

• Build a shared language and toolkit for complexity, enabling meaningful sensemaking and effective action

• Explore how to approach strategy, change, metrics, and performance management in complex environments

• Discover Estuarine Mapping as a way to map complex systems and drive systemic change

We’ll also introduce key tools such as SenseMaker®, Comic Agile, and Gaping Void Culture QuickSenses. Participants will experience how these tools support complex interventions. The HEXI facilitation kit from The Cynefin Company will be used throughout.

By the end of Day 1, participants will walk away with new perspectives on strategy and transformation, a set of practical and adaptable tools, and a deeper understanding of advanced methods and long-term developmental options.

Day 2 – Deep Dive into Cynefin & AGILE

After establishing the fundamentals of the Cynefin framework and complexity thinking, Day 2 shifts focus to Agile practices. We’ll explore how complexity-informed approaches can support Agile transformations and examine Agile-specific tools, methods, and processes designed for today’s rapidly changing environments.

Participants will:

• Explore the concept of “Re-wilding Agile”—creating space for complexity, innovation, and emergence, and returning to the roots of truly adaptive Agile development

• Map and contextualize Agile and Scrum practices within the Cynefin framework, including development cycles and key handoffs

• Discover Cynefin-based enhancements to Scrum practices, such as:

  • Capturing unstructured user needs

  • Distributed idea generation and feedback

  • RetroSense (an alternative to traditional retrospectives)

  • Persona development

  • Comic Agile QuickSense

We’ll close the day with a panel discussion and our perspective on AI, exploring the impact of AI on complex sensemaking through the lens of QuickSense.

By the end of Day 2, participants will leave energized, equipped with actionable tools and approaches they can immediately apply in their work.

Jules Yim

Jules joined the Cynefin Co in 2009 to participate in the delivery of government projects in Singapore. Since then, she has worked with public, private and third sector clients in Asia-Pacific, Europe, the Americas, and Africa, making her the longest-serving Cynefin and SenseMaker consultant on the team. 

Jules completed a double major in English Linguistics and Literature; training that has proven invaluable in applying narrative research to her clients’ projects. Other interests include computational linguistics, alternative forms of governance, urban planning, futures and foresight, climate change, narrative, and the role of the rising Global South in the next century.

Donna Glanvill

Donna currently leads Learning and Training within The Cynefin Company, bringing her wide-ranging background in learning, product development, facilitation, and consulting to the task of helping extend the organisation’s training, learning and capability-building offerings. Her focus is on utilising blended learning design and technology to open up access to information and learning to diverse audiences, supported by mentored application and communities of practice.

Donna holds a BA Honours in Politics and Journalism as well as a Masters in Business Administration from the University of the Witwatersrand, with specialisations in strategy, organisational development, culture and change. She was a part of the Cognitive Edge network for over 10 years prior to joining the team, applying the methods and theory in client engagements.

A pioneer in complexity science and decision-making, he developed SenseMaker®, the world’s first distributed ethnography tool, and co-authored Managing Complexity (and Chaos) in Times of Crisis with the European Commission. As Chief Scientific Officer, he continues to lead innovation in tools and methods for complex adaptive systems.
