Concept

NIKKEI and NUS Enterprise, the entrepreneurial arm of the National University of Singapore (NUS), in collaboration with Nikkei Asian Review, Nikkei Intelligence Group and Nikkei Construction, will be organising a forum themed “Redefining the Smart City for Inclusive Urban Development – City Innovations” on 28 May 2018 at the NUS Kent Ridge campus.

This forum brings together experts from Japan and Southeast Asia to share their best practices and challenges in developing smart cities which incorporate smart energy, smart mobility, and smart services. Discussions will also delve into how innovative technologies such as artificial intelligence (AI), internet of things (IoT) and 3D can create value for both businesses and citizens through data- collaboration and public-private sector partnerships.

It also aims to drive collaboration between Japan and ASEAN smart cities through technological innovation. Experts from smart city initiators such as the City of Yokohama and Amata Smart City Vision (the City of Chonburi, Thailand) will be present to share their experiences. The forum will also feature the future of the smart city, showcasing Singapore’s perspective through “Virtual Singapore,” by the National Research Foundation, and “Virtual Campus,” by the National University of Singapore.

Speakers from Japan’s Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism and Urban Renaissance Agency will be present to create business matching and technology exchange opportunities between Japan, Singapore and ASEAN cities in the area of smart city development.

The forum is expected to engage industry stakeholders who are involved in smart city and urban development, and innovation & technology divisions, including business leaders from the ASEAN region, venture capitalists and financial institutions that are interested in this field as future investment targets.

In the program, we welcome following distinguished speakers.
