 In 2022 and since we first published this blogpost at the end of 2018, there is a not a website spa  ranking on the top 3 of Google with the popular searches like  “siem reap massage” or ” siem reap spa”.

In 2019, Siem Reap saw a rise in spas and massage shops, with more than 2.5 million people visiting the gateway to the temples. In luxurious spas, there has been a shift away from cheaper to more expensive massages.

We listed 15 standalone luxury spas in Siem Reap in October 2018. There may be another 15 in high-end hotel rooms. There were more spas in 2019 than there were in the capital city Phnom Penh.

SEO is Search Engine Optimization. This discipline of digital marketing aims to increase the rank of content on search engines such as Google. It is important to rank the most relevant keywords on the first page, and possibly the top three results.

Google will show you Trip advisor/Viator and Travefish are often the top three results for a search such as "siem reap massaging". This means that they take most of the clicks.

A quick SEO audit of siem reap websites shows they were not SEO friendly,therefore ranking at the bottom or on page 2, where there is a close chance of clicks.

We also discovered that more then 10% of the massage salons in Siem Reap didn't have a website. They relied on trip advisor and facebook to find customers online.
