2020年東京オリンピック・パラリンピックは都市にどのような変化や影響をもたらすのか？東京は五輪を通じて何を生み出し、何を未来に残していけるのか？
本セミナーでは、建造物から文化まで、オリンピック開催後にも引き継がれていく「オリンピック・レガシー（遺産）」に焦点をあてる。ロンドンより、リヴィングストン元市長のもと建築・都市開発を担当し、オリンピックパーク開発に携わったリチャード ブラウン氏を招き、2012年ロンドン・オリンピックのレガシー・プランが都市空間や都市行政にもたらした変化と現在進行形でつづく影響について学びつつ、東京の未来を考える。

グレーター・ロンドン・オーソリティ(GLA, 大ロンドン市)にてリヴィングストン元市長のもと、渉外担当責任者や建築・都市部 部長を歴任後、ロンドンオリンピック・レガシー開発公社(LLDC)でオリンピックパーク建設と近隣エリアの再生に携わる。2014年よりロンドン市を拠点とするシンクタンクCentre for Londonのリサーチディレクターとして、同市が抱える課題の調査研究を牽引。オクスフォード大学、ロンドン大学出身。近著は、建築家リチャード ロジャースとの共著『A Place for All People』(2017年、Canongate)。

1974年東京都出身。2001年単身渡英。アライズ・アンド・モリソン・アークテクツにて、ロンドン五輪(招致マスタープラン模型、レガシーマスタープラン、グリニッジ公園馬術競技場現場監理)やキングスクロス・セントパンクラス地下鉄駅改修計画の設計現場監理などに関わる。2013年１月帰国し事務所設立。個人の設計活動の傍ら、講演、執筆、インタビュー、メディア出演多数。イギリスの成熟社会やロンドン五輪における建築の役割について伝えている。一級建築士。女子美術大学非常勤講師。首都大学東京大学院観光科学域博士課程在籍。著書『イギリス人の、割り切ってシンプルな働き方』(KADOKAWA)『そのまま使える 建築英語表現』(学芸出版社)

ICF 2019 Urban Strategy Session Preliminary Seminars
What changes and influences will the 2020 Olympic and Paralympic Games bring to Tokyo? How will the Tokyo 2020 legacy unfold?
With Mr Richard Brown, the research director of Centre for London and the former strategy director at London Legacy Development Corporation as a special speaker, this seminar will focus on both the tangible and intangible legacy which will be passed down to future generations after the games. Gaining insights from London 2012 and its influence on urban space and city administration, this seminar aims to provide opportunities to envision Tokyo’s future.

Richard Brown
Richard Brown is Research Director at Centre for London, the independent think tank for London, working for a fair and prosperous global city. Previously, Richard worked for London’s mayoral government, most recently as Strategy Director at London Legacy Development Corporation, the agency established to manage legacy conversion of London’s Olympic and Paralympic venues. He also led the Mayor’s bid team, and helped set up the Olympic Delivery Authority, which built the Olympic Park and venues. Before that, Richard worked in the Mayor’s private office, and for Lord Rogers, the Mayor’s advisor on architecture and urbanism. More recently he collaborated with Rogers in writing A Place for All People (London, Canongate, 2017). He has degrees from the universities of London and Oxford.

Kazuya Yamazaki
Architect / Founder of Yama Architects
Born in 1974, Tokyo, Kazuya Yamazaki moved to the U.K. in 2001, where he joined Allies and Morrison Architects (2003-2012). At Allies and Morrison Architects, he worked on several London Olympic projects including the Main Park Masterplan bidding stage model, Legacy Masterplan Framework, and the Greenwich Park Equestrian & Pentathlon venue, as well as Kings Cross St. Pancras underground station redevelopment (ICE Awards, National Rail Awards). Returning to Japan, he founded his own firm, Yama Architects. He gives lectures, essays and interviews about Olympics venue projects in a mature society.
